The industrial landscape has changed dramatically, taking on a project-intensive business model that requires dramatically different management techniques and business software, according to a study of MBT readers conducted for IFS North America.
North American manufacturing can no longer be characterized by long production runs of identical products. This means that project management is becoming a central discipline in manufacturing. But is ERP and enterprise software keeping up? Not according to this study. Of the 341 executives surveyed:
95 percent said that projects were at least somewhat important to their business, or increased project capabilities could bring new efficiencies.
77 percent of respondents were with companies that were extremely reliant on projects due to their focus on short-run, engineer-to-order, and highly regulated manufacturing of high-value products.
59 percent said project management software was completely separate from ERP
29 percent reported varying degrees of partial to full integration
Join an expert panel to discuss the the survey results and a new type of ERP to meet todays needs Project Based Solutions (PBS). What are Project Based Solutions and why will they replace legacy ERP for many companies.
