Prepping for OCAP - In the
Home and at the Headend
Several major MSOs are gearing up for the OpenCable
Application Platform (OCAP), a CableLabs-specified
middleware that aims to give cable a uniform footprint
for advanced digital applications and services designed
to run on a new, powerful range of "hosts" (i.e. digital
TVs and set-tops). In addition to checking with operators
that are prepping for OCAP, this panel will also discuss
how operators can migrate that way with the help of
pre-OCAP implementations. Potential panelists for
millions of legacy digital boxes that are unable to
handle the full OCAP stack.

nDVR strategies - From concept to deployment
The network-based DVR has traveled an evolutionary path, starting back to the early part of the
decade at the TV On Demand visions of what was then known as MystroTV. Although troublesome
copyright issues still loom, operators and their technology partners are still moving ahead
with the concept of time-shifting content on a network, rather than set-top, basis. This panel
will offer some case studies on how flavors of the nDVR are in use today, and offer a look at the
challenges that are on the horizon.
