Mike Cowley has more than 26 years of hands-on experience in the fields of production maintenance and facility engineering. This includes all aspects of facility management, CMMS, contract maintenance, utility operations, project engineering and senior engineering management. He spent the early years of his maintenance career in the textile industry working for Burlington Industries in Greensboro, NC. While at Burlington, he was named Director of Engineering and Maintenance for the Lees Carpets Division.
Mike spent the past several years employed as a District Manager with Philadelphia, PA-based Aramark Facility Services in the company's Specialty Markets Group. He is now President of CE Maintenance Solutions, a Buffalo Junction, VA-based consulting firm that serves facility and manufacturing maintenance organizations. He also serves on the National Professional Development Committee with the Association for Facilities Engineering.

George Nolen, 48, became President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Corporation on January 1, 2004.
George leads the 70,000 Siemens employees based in all 50 states. The $16.6 billion U.S. company, which represents more than 20 percent of the global company's revenues, is a leader in healthcare technology and information management, power generation and transmission, automation and controls, lighting, information and communications technology, transportation, and building technologies. He is also Chairman of the Board of Siemens One, the U.S. company's cross-selling and solutions arm.
Prior to his current position, George served as President and CEO of Siemens Information and Communication Networks Inc. (now, Siemens Communications, Inc.), which provides integrated voice and data networks and solutions for telecommunications carriers, cable providers and enterprise customers. He was named to that post in February 2002.
From 1998 to 2002, George was President and CEO of Siemens Enterprise Networks LLC. He was responsible for successfully building the enterprise business into a cohesive, customer-focused solutions provider. In doing so, he was instrumental in growing Siemens' worldwide Enterprise unit into a more profitable, multi-billion dollar business.
George joined Siemens in 1982 as a member of the sales force. He went on to serve as senior vice president of sales and service for Siemens Business Communication Systems, Inc., where he was responsible for sales and distributor channels, national accounts, consultant resources, Siemens customer support centers, telesales, and enhanced services within North America.
He is a member of The Business Roundtable, where he also serves on the organization's Security Task Force (Washington, DC), and is a board member of the United States Chamber of Commerce (Washington, DC). George is also a member of NYC2012 (the organization seeking to host the 2012 Olympic Games in New York City), and he represents Siemens with the Partnership for New York City. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech. Additionally, George is a Member of the Board of Trustees of the New York Hall of Science.

Mr. Hawkins has a successful track record serving both hardware and software

Mr. Hawkins holds a B.S. (Honors) in Microbiology from the University of Queensland

Chuck began his technical career with the U.S. Air Force
in 1967 as an Aircraft Electronic Navigation Systems Technician. He soon
became a trainer for the
USAF and several foreign Air Forces, including an extended period with Brazilian
military students. Afterward, he held technical positions at Bayer Corp., where
he became the Process Control Systems Training Supervisor for company facilities
in Baytown and Houston, TX. In 1995, Chuck left Bayer to become a full-time
instructor in Instrumentation and in Process Technology at Houston’s
Lee College. He was a supporter of the college’s efforts to build a full-scale
processing facility at the college, which went on-line in 1998. In 2000, the
college was awarded a National Science Foundation grant to develop maintenance
education for plant-floor networking architecture and emerging technologies.
Chuck was selected to serve as Director of the resulting Fieldbus Center.
In
May, Chuck was chosen by his peers to receive the Catherine Wahrmund & ExxonMobil
Education Foundation Excellence in Education Award. In October, he is scheduled
to receive the Donald P. Eckman Education Award from the ISA (Instrumentation,
Systems & Automation Society). Chuck holds an AAS degree in Instrumentation
from Lee College and a Baccalaureate Degree from the University of Houston.

John Rezabek

John brings 24 years of experience to bear in his position
as Process Control Specialist for ISP’s butanediol (BDO) plant in Lima, OH. He holds a B.S.
in Systems Engineering from the Case Institute of Technology (Case Western
Reserve University), Cleveland, OH, and has served in diverse staff and supervisory
positions for Standard Oil and BP. He spent two-thirds of his career in petroleum
refineries, with the remainder at the ISP plant in Lima (formerly owned by
BP). John was recently the site implementation manager for the first application
of Fieldbus HSE and Flexible Function Blocks (FFB) in an operating chemical
plant, which was hosted by ISP on behalf of the Fieldbus Foundation. John has
also been recognized for recent papers and presentations, including the 2001
Keith Otto award for Best Article appearing in ISA’s Intech magazine.

company, Graham spent more than 10 years at Sverdrup Facilities,
Inc., St. Louis, MO, as Senior Food/Sanitation Technologist.
While
at Sverdrup he earned the designation of Sverdrup Fellow, the corporation’s
highest award for technical achievement. Prior to joining Sverdrup,
Graham held various technical positions with the Green Giant Co.,
William Underwood Co. and the International Division of Pet, Inc.
He has a master’s degree in food science and technology from
Michigan State University, and currently teaches sanitary design
at four major universities.

Charles S. Kline

Charlie joined J. J. Keller & Associates,
Inc. in 1999 with a background in safety and quality assurance.
He develops
and presents industrial safety and Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) training.
Charlie’s past work experience includes
quality assurance supervision for Anheuser-Busch. In that role,
he co-led
the Safety Core Group, was responsible for chemical safety and
personal protective equipment, and developed and presented OSHA
and corporate
safety training programs. He also was an Incident Commander for
confined space rescue and hazardous materials response, and a
primary
member of the Emergency Medical Response Team.
Most recently, Charlie was the Corporate Quality
Auditor for Perdue Farms, Inc., a major food manufacturer. There
he helped
to re-engineer the company’s corporate quality policies in
accordance with ISO 9000 and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control
Point (HACCP). Charlie also served as an Associate Instructor for
the Safety Council of Central New York where he conducted on-site
OSHA-related training.
Y. Martin Lo, PhD

Dr. Y. Martin Lo joined the Department of Nutrition
and Food Science at the University of Maryland College Park in
July
2001, after being on the faculty of the University of Delaware
for four years. He is an Associate Professor in Food Bioprocess
Engineering
and an Extension Specialist in Food Processing Safety. Dr. Lo received
his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from National Taiwan
University in 1989. He came to the United States in 1991 to pursue
graduate studies. He received his M.S. (1993) and Ph.D. (1995)
in
Food Science and Technology, with a minor in Biochemical Engineering,
from the Ohio State University.
Dr. Lo has extensive experience in the development
of novel bioprocesses. He has established active research program
in developing whole-cell biosensors for food safety and environmental
monitoring. He serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-PI
of federally and regionally funded competitive grants totaling more
than $1.1 million. To date, Dr. Lo has published more than twenty
articles in prestigious journals and is an Associate Editor for
the Handbook of Food Technology and Engineering. He has been an
active member of IFT, AIChE, IBE, ASAE, and CAFS.
As an Extension Specialist, Dr. Lo is known for
his efforts in building research-based extension program. He
is helping
farmers on the Eastern Shore in identifying value-added applications
for their crops. He has also conducted intensive HACCP training
courses for local poultry processors and international delegates.
He continues to contribute internationally by serving as the
North
America Coordinator for a series of conferences on Oriental Food
and Functional Food. He is currently the Research Advisor for
the
Chinese Institute of Food Science & Technology and the Hong
Kong Food Science & Technology Association.

David K. Park
President

In 2002, Park founded ComplexityKey, a (501)(c)(3)
organization, serving as the industry “connection” to
the George Washington University National Decision Assessment Immersion
Center (NDAIC) and the Alpha Institute “Alpha MethodTM”,
offering industry complex decision-making consulting, advanced software
solutions, and educational research & development programs in
immersive assessment environments designed to connect, facilitate,
and enable diverse governmental, industrial, academic and public
domain interests to arrive at “best-decision” outcomes
and solutions.
Park received his undergraduate degree in Food Science
from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana in 1972. Employed
by the National Food Processors Association Eastern Research Laboratory,
Washington D.C. as a Section Head, Process Engineering until July,
1980. He and his staff provided in-plant and laboratory technical
support to over 600 industry members on new technology assessment,
process establishment, FDA process registrations and process filings,
process deviation safety evaluations, product spoilage investigations,
and assisted firms in product recalls, provided industry education
and training. His responsibilities included directing the development
of industry training programs on technology applications and related
federal regulations.
In 1980, Park became VP, Technical Director of TechniCAL,
Inc., a thermal processing consulting services and products company
located in New Orleans, LA. There he developed and managed a novel
U.S. thermal processing consulting program assisting industry to
comply with FDA and USDA regulatory requirements for Good Manufacturing
Practices (GMP's) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points
(HACCP).
Park began employment with FMC FoodTech in November,
1994, serving as TechniCAL Manager of the Process Technologies Laboratory,
Process Management Group of FMC FoodTech in Madera, CA, responsibilities
included management of the design and pilot-simulation of batch
and continuous process development for new customer product and
packaging applications.
Park has been appointed to industry advisory
committees extensively throughout his career including the NFPA “Thermal
Processes for Low-Acid Foods in Metal Containers” and “Process
Establishment for Semi Rigid and Flexible Containers”. He
served on the R&DA Board of Directors from 1986-90 and as Chairman
for 1990-91. He is a recipient of the National Association of Food
Equipment Manufacturers’ NAFEM/89 Honorary Doctorate of Food
Service Award. Park is considered an FDA/USDA regulatory authority
in the area of thermally processed low-acid and acidified shelf
stable and extended shelf-life (ESL) foods.

Robert Strong, PhD
VP, Quality Management Systems
The Steritech Group, Inc
Robert Strong, PhD is the Vice-President of Quality
Management Systems for The Steritech Group, Inc.’s Food Safety
Division. He has played a pivotal role in the development and expansion
of Steritech’s food safety operations in the areas of Good
Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Agricultural Practice (GAP)
and
vendor assurance programs. With more than 30 years of experience
and leadership in the industry, he has worked for a variety of
companies,
doing extensive work in the areas of auditing, quality assurance
and product development during his career.
In addition to his work in cultivating protocols
for Quality Management, Bob oversees food safety auditing programs
for
a number of leading hospitality and manufacturing chains in the
United States. He has worked in and traveled to many parts of
the
globe and is a frequently requested seminar speaker in the areas
of GMP and HACCP. He has recently spoken at the Whitmire Micro-Gen
Institute of Technology and Canada’s Industry and Accident
Prevention Food and Beverage Annual Health and Safety Conference.
He is also a published author, most recently producing articles
for Today’s Restaurant News and Restaurant Hospitality on
the topic of food security.
Bob holds both his PhD and BSC in Chemistry from the
University of Liverpool in Liverpool, England.

Al Cooley leads Verano’s security marketing efforts. He has more than 15 years of marketing experience at large public companies like Motorola and Digital Equipment, as well as venture–backed
firms such as Astaro, I-Logix and NetPlane. Cooley led marketing efforts
for one of the first integrated perimeter security offerings. At Digital
Equipment, Cooley focused on vertical industry marketing within manufacturing
industries, including helping to pioneer open access to control systems.
Cooley holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Michigan, a BSEE from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and has conducted advanced studies in computer engineering at Boston University. He has written and presented on a wide range of network security topics, including effective Web blocking, virus and spam protection and how to use integrated security platforms to improve network security.

Dr. Morris provides research, consulting, training and project development services. He works on a variety of issues including patient information and compliance, Rx-to-OTC switches, advertising regulation, risk management, health policy, and communications research. He served at the Food and Drug Administration for 23 years, where he held a variety of positions including Acting Division Director and Branch Chief in the Division of Drug Marketing, Advertising and Communications.
Dr. Morris has also served as a Scholar-in-Residence at the American University's Department of Marketing as well as on the faculty at Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland, George Washington University, and Georgetown University Medical School. He is currently an adjunct associate professor at the Temple University School of Pharmacy. He has authored over 100 journal articles and book chapters on the topics of health and risk communications. Dr. Morris has served as an expert consultant to the Federal Trade Commission, the President's Bioethics Commission, Harvard University's Center for Risk Analysis, the Food and Drug Administration and numerous pharmaceutical and communication companies.
Dr. Morris earned his doctoral degree in psychology from
Tulane University in 1974. He served as president of the Drug Information
Association from 1994-1995 and was a chair of the Health Policy Committee
of the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research.
He is currently a member of the Food and Drug Administration’s Drug
Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee.

Mr. Truhe has been a management consultant to the pharmaceutical
industry since 1996. Bill has worked for five of the top ten pharmaceutical
manufacturers in the USA. He has developed and managed business transformation
projects which have defined his client’s information technology strategy, required to improve performance and ensure regulatory compliance in the areas of R&D,
drug safety and pharmacovigilance. Prior to joining WCI, Bill was employed
by several multi-national consulting companies such as Cambridge Technology
Partners and ZEFER. Bill has a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information
Science and an MBA.

Kenneth L. Hintze, Ph.D., DABT

Kendle International, Inc.
Dr. Hintze received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry
from Iowa State University, followed by Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy
degrees in Pharmacology/Toxicology from the University of Iowa. After serving
as a research associate at the State University of New York at Buffalo in
the area of Pharmacokinetics, he joined The Procter & Gamble Co. in 1979.
In 1983, he became a diplomate of the American Board of
Toxicology, a board certification in the area of safety and risk assessment.
During his 23-year career at Procter & Gamble, Dr. Hintze held many posts,
including manager of pharmacovigilance of company products, preclinical safety
of cosmetic and drug products, immunology research, and development of information
systems for safety and regulatory activities.
For the past three years, he has been the director of Global Safety and Pharmacovigilance at Kendle, a clinical research organization, where his group is responsible for the management and reporting of adverse events from clinical trials and pharmacovigilance of marketed products.
